Digital Solutions / Inmate Telephone, Inc. Donates Proceeds of Charity Golf Outing to Organization for Special Needs Children.

 

Miracle League of Blair County is the recipient of over four thousand dollars in funds raised through annual golf event.

 

Altoona, Pennsylvania – September 15, 2009 - The Miracle League of Blair County is the recipient of the proceeds from the 2009 Digital Solutions / Inmate Telephone, Inc. (DSI / ITI) Charity Golf Outing.  This year, over 40 businesses and individuals teamed up to raise over $4,400 for the Miracle League of Blair County through a combination of hole / tee sponsorships and contributions during the event.

Nearly 70 golfers from all over the United States took part in the event at the Park Hills golf course in Altoona, PA.  “We are very pleased with how many corrections industry professionals took part in the event and with the strong showing of support for the Miracle League,” said Tony Pellegrino, event organizer.

The Miracle League of Blair County is an organization that provides the opportunity for special needs children in the Central Pennsylvania region to take part in baseball in a safe and supportive environment.  “Throughout the golf event, many of the golfers kept saying “It goes to a good cause, so I’ll participate (in some of the extra activities)”; they were right.  The Miracle League really is a good cause- there is nothing better than the expression on the faces of these children when they get to play baseball.  We are really appreciative of the support for the kids- every dollar raised makes a difference for us,” said Joe Reed, director of the Miracle League of Blair County.

“This was the first year that we ran the annual golf outing as a charity outing,” said Pellegrino.  “We are looking forward to making this an annual tradition.  There is nothing better than giving back to the community.”
